Kathy Stickler

Kathy Stickler is a Certified Natural Health Practitioner. She has a heart for people and started working in 1993. She founded Healthy Traditions with the goal of meeting her clients' needs for education and quality products.

Kathy is a proud distributor of Nature's Sunshine Products - a company recognized worldwide as one of the highest quality herb and vitamin providers.

Kathy is certified in pharmaceutical and herbal interactions and has earned certifications in Authentic Essential Oils, Syndrome X, diabetes, and inflammation. She is a practicing iridologist, a certified IN.FORM coach, and offers Zyto Compass System Assessments and Foot Spa Detoxes.

Why Healthy Traditions?

We made drastic changes in our family's lifestyle for health reasons. As a home-educating mother, I would become very tired and by the time evening mealtime came around, I would think “Oh no! It's that time again. What am I going to fix for dinner?” There were sometimes I just wanted to crash but eating out was not an option for a one-income family. I would run to the grocery store in a weakened frame of mind, grab for the hotdogs or macaroni & cheese box...because it was quick and easy. Nutrition? I'm in survival mode...fall back on what I grew up with or things that were “no brainers”. I'll plan better tomorrow. Have you ever noticed how tomorrow never comes?

During this time we had started a small family business with Nature's Sunshine Products. We batted around several names trying to find just the right one for us. We came up with some pretty crazy ones. “Family Herbs & Vitamins” that was too plain , “The Green Team” because we drank so much Chlorophyll, or “The Eliminators” that would be good for bowel management. No matter how many we came up with, somehow they just didn't feel right.

Then one day while driving in the van with my daughter sitting in the passenger seat beside me, I was complaining to her about the bad choices I seem to fall into when I'm tired and can't think creatively. I wish I would fall back on healthy traditions instead of the ones I already have.

At that point, we both looked at each other and simultaneously said...”That's it! Healthy Traditions”. That's what we want from our business...we want to establish Healthy Traditions for us and for our friends with the same challenges. Hence the birth of our name...Healthy Traditions !

We have expanded since those times on our little farm and more have joined our team, but we all have the same goals to make life better for you and share a little of our Healthy Traditions with you.

Why Sunshine Herbs and Vitamins?

After being “Healthy Traditions LLC” for so many years an opportunity has been given to me by a godly woman who was my natural health mentor and teacher for over 25 years. Darlene Haberer has been with Nature Sunshine for many, many years. She and Ted were semi- retiring (continuing to mentor her managers) and looking for someone to carry on " Sunshine Herbs and vitamins". Keith and I were very honored when approached about taking over the shop. It's an amazing opportunity and not a day passes that we are not grateful.

I met Darlene in the early 90s when I was looking for help for a serious family health situation (10 year old daughter had cancer and I was given no hope). I was blown away with the simple but profound answers she gave me. I cried most of that first hour she spent with me because for the first time I had hope! She did not diagnose or prescribe anything... she educated me sharing lifestyle changes and facts about the wonderful herbs God had given us. (By the way my daughter is fine!)

She has taught many of us and been there for us over the years and encouraged us to do the same. So I challenge all of us to carry on, as we have seen her do, as a token of our appreciation to all of the hard work invested in us.

Darlene and Ted Haberer are a good example of inspiration and wisdom when it comes to health issues. The integrity and compassion they portrayed in their business only sets the foundation of the legacy they have in this part of the world. Anyone who knows them understands how hard it would be to fill their shoes. So I cannot attempt to and I won't, but I will attempt to be the best "me" I can be and do so in a way that would be honoring to their legacy and to God.

So welcome to this next chapter of our life with "Sunshine Herbs & Vitamins".
